Palafrugell is the largest of the local towns and only a 10 min drive away.  It is very much a tradional local town with a large bustling shopping area centred around the town square.   It has a local produce market every day, with a massive weekly one every Sunday. A great place to shop or come and watch the world go by over a coffee in the square.

Calella de Palafrugell/Llfranc  Another 5 mins drive to the coast are these two charming small towns, joined by a short coastal path. They have small beaches, with many seafood restaurants selling delicious food. Beautiful peaceful setting, not to be missed.

Torreolla de Montgri/L'Estartit  Torreolla is a lovely rustic Moorish market town approx 10 mins drive to the north.  It's centre is full of narrow and cool lanes full of shops leading to a small square.  Market day is every Monday.  A further 10 min drive to the coast brings you to L'Estartit.  This is the busiest seaside resort in the area, with a large marina and many bars and restaurants specialising in seafood.  By southern Spain standards though, it is still relatively small, peaceful and quiet out of season.

Le Bisbal  This inland town, approx 20 mins drive towards Girona, is a must for gift and souvenire hunters.  The long main street is almost door to door with local ceramics, pottery and antique shops.  There also a number of interesting architechural reclaimer yards.

....and of course, Barcelona is approx 1 1/2 hours by train, Girona a 50 min drive, Salvador Dali's home town of Figueres is 1/2 an hour away and the Pyranees and Andorra a 2 hour drive away.
